Wealthy manufacturer, La boiteaux of Cincinnati, wrote to Andrew Jackson, Jr. of the Hermitage of Nashville, Tennessee, inquiring about "a very fine high bred horse...it is very difficult to get one such as I want in Kentucky." The horse he finally bought was foaled by a mare belonging to President Andrew Jackson.
