Examples are: letters, telephone message, telegram and office notes (Jan. 1962) re/ problems faced by John Rich (NBC) not being allowed to return to France; letters (Nov. 1961-Jan. 1962) from constituent Mrs. Margaret H. Witt, Congressman Wilson, and Frederick G. Dutton (Assist. Secretary, Dept. of State) re/ responses to Mrs. Witt's criticism of any disarmament program, UNESCO and Prime Minister Nehru; letters (Jan-Feb. 1961 from Congressman Wilson and Frederick G. Dutton (State Dept.) re/ Mr. Dutton's "CONFIDENTIAL" reply as to "status of negotiations between US/Morocco in respect to our naval and air force bases in Morocco;" a small packet of office notes, letters, promotional brochures & telegrams (Dec. 1961-Feb. 1962) re/ a false alarm about recently imported International Harvest Co. tractors being used by "Castro forces . . . to build a cactus curtain around the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba;" letters (Jan.-Feb. 1961) from Coronado constituent RAdm. Secretary, Dept. of State) re/ our relations with Yugoslavia and allegations that they were training Cuban armed forces; letters (Jan.-Feb. 1961) from Chula Vista constituent Mrs. Glen Leavitt, Wilson & Frederick G. Dutton (Dept. of State) re/ Mrs. Leavitt's concerns about reductions in the Office of Security Affairs of the Dept. and resolution to oust Cuba from the Organization of American States; other issues and topics of constituents in this folder are: concerns about foreign aid and cultural exchanges from a conservative perspective; a packet of material including a magazine excerpt re/ "THE UNICEF HALLOWEEN HOODWINK" and other diatribes; letters, NRCC News Release & excerpt from U. S. News & World Reports, "Washington Whispers" re/ allegation "that plans for the construction of the wall in Berlin were turned over to Western officials as early as 1958;" politically conservative fears about creeping socialism; a large packet of material from a constituent alarmed by President Kennedy's speech, fears of communist expansion and other political issues; a proposal to make Finland a neutral nation; a constituent's unfounded fears that the UN would obtain nuclear weapons, and his, and Wilson's, anti-Keynesian pronouncement; inquiry regarding UNESCO, education treaty and other "foreign political propaganda" & Wilson's support "to reinstate the restrictions on the importation of Communist propaganda."
