Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, office notes, telegrams, memorandum, brochures and memos. These records are not sorted chronologically. Examples are: a packet of corresp. & notes (Jan.-Aug. 1962) re/ D & M Engineering's failure to obtain a Small Business Loan for his "Seamarksman" venture. This was "a coin-operated fish or pellet gun, to be placed in zoos and operated on a percentage basis;" a packet of corresp. (Aug.-Oct. 1963) re/ El Patio, a shop of fine apparel at 6th & Robinson in San Diego, to obtain a $20,000 loan from the Small Business Admin.; "GSA-Congressional Liaison" (11/27/62) re/ 130 acres of land being offered for sale . . . Parcel A-4 – portion of Camp Elliott's Southeast boundary; letters & telegram (Sept.-Oct. 1962) from Milus W. Bonker (Pastor, First Lutheran Church), Congressman Wilson, Ewart W. Goodwin (San Diegans, Inc.), Marjorie Schier (Congressional Liaison, Housing and Home Finance Agency), Community Facilities Administration News release for Oct. 6th & a First Lutheran brochure re/ a $2,356,800 Federal Loan approved for a 14-story apartment for Senior Citizens Housing to be constructed at 2nd avenue and Beech Street in San Diego; letters (Nov.-Dec. 1962) from El Cajon constituent John G. Paukovits, Congressman Wilson, Neal J. Hardy (Commissioner, FHA) re/ Mr. Paukovits' inability to procure an FHA insured mortgage loan on his property; a packet of letters (1957 & 1962) from Donald B. Smith (President-General Manager, Del Mar Turf Club), Robert K. Kitson (SecretaryTreasure, Frye & Smith, LTD.), Congressman Wilson & Alvin P. Meyers (Regional Dir., Small Business Adm.) re/ loan applications, financial issues and other complications faced by the Del Mar Turf Club; other topics and issues in this folder are: a detailed packet of corresp. (Aug. 1961-Jan. 1962) indicating constituent Mrs. Blanche Hill's unsuccessful attempts to secure an FHA loan; an extensive list of repairs (1960-1961) required by the VA for residence at 2955 Kobe Drive, S.D. & Cabrillo Construction Company's frustrations; La Mesa constituent James F. Frantz's attempts to refinance his property in Lake Murray area; The Equitable Life Assurance Society's "opposition to the Government REA loans;" a letter (4/19/62) from Congressman George Miller re/ H.R. 8401 and attempts to have the Smithsonian Institute make grants for marine research; letters (2/62) indicating frustration with V.A. concerning loan application for Mr. George J. Gamboeck; letters (May-June 1962) re/ constituent's frustration with unfavorable response from V.A. for G.I. business loan; letters July & Aug. 1962) from Wilson to constituents responding to inquiries as to SBA loans; a large packet of letters & a copy of Community Facilities Agency News (June-July 1962) re/ "Grossmont Junior College application for advance planning funds [$98,017] – Project #P – CALIF 3570;" and a packet of notes & letters (Ap. 1961-July 1962) re/ frustrations over a fisheries loan from the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries for the Evelyn R.'s conversion to a Purse Seiner.
