Scope and Contents
Only one small packet of corresp. in this folder: letters (Jan.-Ap. 1954) from Congressman Wilson, RAdm. George A. Holderness, Jr., Walter Wencke (Attorney at Law), E. F. Terrar, Jr. (Wilson's Admin. Asst.) and John D. Butler (Attorney at Law) re/ an incident occurring on the morning of December 2, 1953 when "a navy veteran of World War II who was employed as a civilian gardener at the Marine Recruit Depot" "was shot and killed by a sentry for not showing proper respect to the colors." Termed the "Le Fever incident" this resulted in an investigation, but evidence of adequate compensation for the surviving widow and 3 children is not included in these documents.
