Scope and Contents

A small collection of letters, a telegram & office notes. Examples are: a photocopy of "Division Order 1600.3B" HQ 3d Marine Divison, FMF (17Sept1957) from Major General F. M. Fairbourn (USMC) re/ "Conduct of Division Personnel;" letters (Aug.-Oct. 1957) from La Jolla constituent Miss Mary H. Everts, Edward F. Terrar, Jr. (Wilson's Admin. Asst.) & Capt. E. R. Puckett (Disbursing Officer, MCRD) re/ Civil Service rules that sometimes impose additional expenditures on employees rather than economy; a letter (21 January 1958) from Major General Thomas A. Wornham (Commanding General, MCRD) & Wilson reply (1/24/58) re/ an invitation to stay at the base BOQ in a VIP suite & Wilson's letter (3/31/58) thanking General Wornham "in allowing me to 'bed-down' at the BOQ" ; a letter (22 March 1958) from Brigadier General and Mrs. A. L. Bowser (MCRD) & Wilson's reply (3/31/58) re/ an invitation to a party and Wilson's appreciation of "your delightful party;" copies of a letters (4/17 & 25/58) from Wilson to Office in Charge (BOQ, MCRD) & Major General Wornham re/ "Enclosed herewith is the key to my room which I inadvertently carried off last Monday" & "Please accept my belated thanks for your hospitality a couple of weeks ago. I felt right at home at the B.O.Q.;" additional items are: a 8/8/58 telegram re/ DOD "will waive directive prohibiting service team participation at Wichta;" letters (4/59) re/ luncheon and overnight at MCRD for Wilson; a packet of corresp. (Jan.-Feb. 1959) re/ a civilian barber at MCRD, complaints about an inadequate child's haircut, the Tip Fund and a claim for failure to pay wages; Wilson office notes (3/30/60) re/ parades in Coronado and Huntington Beach for Marine Band.
