Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, memorandum, telegrams and other items. Examples are: letters (Sept. 1959) from The Reverend Thomas J. McLaughlin (St. Augustine High School), Leon W. Parma (Wilson's Admin. Asst.), Congressman Wilson & Alan T. Waterman (Dir. National Science Foundation) -- as a participant in a summer National Science Foundation Institute at the University of Notre Dame, Reverend McLaughlin supports the continuation of this valuable federal program; a copy of U.S. Senate Committee on Government Operations, "Organization of Federal Executive Departments and Agencies" (1/1/59); letters (Dec. 1958.-Mar. 1959) from constituent Lt. Col. David R. Toole (USAF Ret.), Congressman Wilson & Franklin Floete (Administrator, GSA) re/ Mr. Toole's suggestion "to change the number of reporting periods from a three-month basis to a four-month basis;" letters (Jan.-Mar. 1960) from Grossmont constituent Wallace R. Johnson, Congressman Wilson & Jarold A. Kieffer (National Cultural Center, Washington, D.C.) re/ Mr. Johnson's "broad misconceptions regarding the National Cultural Center" and its origins and support from the Congress, including Wilson; office memorandum (7/12/60) & attached copy of government "Contact List" with names & phone listings (3 pp.); additional items include: Lakeside constituent interest in and support for the President's Council on Youth Fitness; a packet of corresp. (1960) re/ a constituent weighs in on "Economic Truths," his support for Wilson, Nixon, Lodge and political conservative ideologies; a Santee constituent requests information from the SEC; a constituent inquires about the pending 23d Amendment; a local attorney seeks sponsorship "in being admitted to the Bar of The Supreme Court;" a San Diego constituent and his wife are disturbed by news that a memorial will be built honoring Franklin D. Roosevelt and obtain a response from the Memorial Commission.
