A collection of letters, news clippings, notes, periodical excerpt & memorandum. Examples are: a one page "June 21, 1960 Home Port Change" notice; letters (June 1960) from RAdm. R.K. James (Chief of Bureau of Ships), RAdm. Paul D. Stroop (Chief, Bureau of Naval Weapons) & Congressman Wilson re/ responses to Wilson's inquiry as to "the problem of budgeting for anticipated wage increases;" a letter (6/17/60) from constituent Mrs. Lucille H. Smith & Wilson's reply (7/1/60) re/ air safety in San Diego; letters (May-July 1960) from constituent Miss Carol Reid, Congressman Wilson Cmdr. R. D. Chamberlain (Congressional Liaison Div., Office of the Secretary of the Navy), RAdm. C. L. Andrews (Asst. Chief for Personnel, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery) & RAdm. F. P. Gilmore (Acting Surgeon General) re/ Miss Reid's inquiry "concerning the providing of ambulance assistance by the U. S. Navy to accident victims;" a letter (7/5/60) from Wilson to RAdm. A. W. McKechnie (Chief, Naval Air Reserve Training, Naval Air Station, Glenview, Illinois, attached copy of the admiral's article, "Naval Air Reserve First Line of Defense," Naval Reservist (n.d.) -- showing Wilson's enthusiastic response to reserve training; other topics and issues in this folder are: a packet containing letters (Feb.-July, 1960) & a copy of Dr. Andreas B. Rechnitzer & Lt. Don Walsh, "The Bathyscaph TRIESTE Project, A Source of Operational Experience and Insights for Planning Future Deep Submergence Development. A Presentation before the Conference on Deep Diving Submarines, National Academy of Sciences, Washington 25, D.C. 12-13 September 1960;" letters (June-July) re/ possibility of leasing the Communications School at Imperial Beach for youth activities; letters & memorandum (Aug. 1960) re/ comments and rumors about excessive layoff of civilian employees by the Navy; an August letter to Wilson from Walter W. Kinsinger (President, Assn. of Senior Engineers of the Bureau of Ships) re/ "The ordered cut in Bureau of Ship personnel in Washington, D.C., will do irreparable damage to our defense efforts;" a copy of a 10/11/60 notice: "Navy Announced Today the Following" – a new schedule of wages for the San Diego area of approximately 3.4%; letters (Oct.-Nov. 1960) re/ "Bureau of Ships plans for consolidating the naval shipyard production shops into four groups;" a letter (11/4/60) from Crosby H. Milne (V.P., National Council of Naval Air Stations Employee Organizations) re/ budget and need for Wilson's help; letters (Nov.- Dec. 1960) re/ "constituent request for information concerning the possibility of multiple drills at the Los Alimitos Naval Air Station;" & 2 letters (Dec. 1960) re/ the Surgeon General of the Navy reassures Wilson that the Medical Department will continue "to serve mankind."
