A small collection of letters, articles, reports, news clipping, a news release and periodicals: Examples are: a 3 page letter (7/14/61) from Claude C. Slate to Paul Engstrum (Washington Representative, Claude C. Slate Cargo Airship, Co.) re/ refuting the "fallacy" in NASA'S claims about "our dirigible costs;" a letter (9 August 1961) from VAdm. G. W. Settle (ret.) to Paul Engstrum re/ his experience in the late 1920s of inspecting "the first Slate ship in her hanger at Glendale;" a copy of R.M. Anderson, "Slate All-Metal Dirigible Heralded as the First Practical All-Metal Airship," Aeronautical World, September 1928, pp. 18-19; a 3 page "SMD-100 NEWS RELEASE #1" from the Claude C. Slate Company re/ proposal to commence a $15 million project to design and build a huge jetpowered, all-metal dirigible expressly conceived to haul ponderous 'space age' cargos; a 2 page listing of 12 slides re/ a presentation of the Slate All-Metal Cargo Handling Dirigible;" a promotional publication from the Slate Company, "Cargo Handling SMD-100 Slate All-Metal Dirigible" featuring renderings and illustrations; a news clipping from the The Santa Ana Independent (6/22/61) featuring the proposed $15 million dirigible program and "Plant Is Proposed At Marine Facility . . . . to haul missiles to Cape Canaveral; and two issues of missiles and rockets for Feb. 5 and Feb. 26, 1962.
