A collection of letters, notes, telegrams, news clippings & other items. Examples are: a letter (4/10/56) from Congressman Wilson & a reply (4/17/56) from RAdm. H. A. Yeager (Asst. Chief for Education and Training, BuPers) re/ Wilson's inquiry concerning "the status of a proposal to establish a radio school at Imperial Beach;" a letter (2/4/59) from Robert L. Wynn (City Mgr., Imperial Beach) & Wilson's reply (2/10/59) re/ concerns that the training school would be relocated from its Imperial Beach location; news clipping "Navy Slates Beach City Center Shift," Evening Tribune, Mar. 4, 1959; a letter & a resolution (Apr. 1959) from The City of Imperial Beach & Wilson's reply (4/23/59) regarding responses to the proposed relocation of the communications training facility & the City's support and cooperation with the Navy; letters (5/59) from Capt. Robert H. Weeks (Asst. Director, Naval Communications), Robert L. Wynn (City Mgr, Imperial Beach) & Congressman Wilson re/ relocation of training school to Florida, but the Radio Station remains & the city's hope that other Navy facilities will be located in Imperial Beach; a letter (4/27/60) from Robert Wynn (City Mgr, Imperial Beach) to Wilson re/ question as to what would replace the training facility; office notes (July 1960) re/ "Admiral Grenfell is checking this out" & "Navy will have to retain land for new program highly classified. . . ."; a letter (12/20/60) from City Manager Robert L. Wynn to Wilson re/ further query as to former communication training property use; a letter (3/1/61) from RAdm. M. E. Arnold (Commandant, Eleventh Naval District) to Congressman Wilson re/ extensive technical commentary on the uses of the Navy property at Imperial Beach, especially the importance of the U. S. Navy Radio Station co-located with the training center on this property – buffer zones are needed in this location; letters & news clipping (Feb.& Mar, 1961) re/ "Sweetwater Okays $6 Million College" & Wilson's "Congratulations . . . [and] I hope you are getting some where with the City of San Diego in regard to Brown Field;" a letter (3/1/62) from Joseph Rindone (3/1/62) to Wilson re/ previous inquiry "about the possibility of the Sweetwater School District obtaining 20 acres of the property now occupied by Fort Emory and the Naval Communications Training Center-Coronado Heights, for a much needed junior high school site in Imperial Beach;" letters (Feb.-May, 1962) from Joseph Rindone (Dist. Supt., Sweetwater Union High School Dist.), Congressman Wilson & RAdm. M. E. Arnold (Commandant, Eleventh Naval Dist.) re/ "the Navy has no plans to declare any of the property in question as excess or surplus to the needs of the government.
