Examples are: copy of a letter (3/8/55) from Congressman Wilson to William Black (La Jolla Farms) re/ brochure for property owners around Miramar & navigational easements; a letter (3/21/55) from constituent Andrew Andeck (La Jolla Enterprises) & Wilson's reply (3/28/55) re/ information on Kearny Mesa land and navigational easements at Miramar; a letter (1/19/56) from J. H. Smith, Jr. (Asst. Secretary of the Navy) to Wilson re/ Navy consideration of acquisition of land south of NAS Miramar; Memorandum (2/10/56) & attached letter (2/9/56) from Chairman Carl Vinson (Committee on Armed Services) to S.D.Mayor Charles Dail re/ land adjacent to NAS Miramar; a copy of a letter (2/10/56) from Congressman James B. Utt to S.D. Mayor Dail re/ "the possibility of exchanging surplus land at Camp Elliott on a value-for-value basis with the owners of land around Miramar;" a letter (1/23/56) from Harold C. Nelson (Coast Packing Material, Co.) & Wilson's reply (2/10/56) re/ potential conflict with growing industrial community and the Navy's 12,000 foot circle of navigational easement; a copy of "Notes On Aviation Industry Meeting Monday February 13, 1956 in Commissioner Mason's Office" & press release for Feb. 13 re/ FHA evaluation of jet airports & noise factors; letters (Mar. & Apr. 1956) E.F. Terrar, Jr. (Admin. Asst. to Wilson) & Wilson acknowledging "receipt of editorials from the Union and the Tribune relating to the airport problem in San Diego" & attached copies of "City, Navy Have Large Air Stake" & "Cool Heads and Cooperation Needed for Airport Solution" (3/23 & 3/24/56); letters & telegrams (Apr.-June 1956) re/ continued concerns about land within the 12,000 foot circle and noise impacts of NAS Miramar; a long constituent letter (5/25/56) & Wilson's reply (6/5/56) re/ their concerns about the Navy taking their 15 acre semi-rural property (off Carroll Canyon Road) in fee simple; letters (6/56) re/ concerns of Sim J. Harris Co. as to equipment and gravel pits adjoining NAS Miramar and possible Navy expansion in that area; letters (1/3/57) from Charles A. Clark & Sons (Realtors) & Dr.Wilbur W. Myers re/ complaints about NAS expansion inhibiting commercial development and growth in San Diego; additional correspondence in this folder are: letters, telegrams & notes (May-July 1957) re/ topic of land adjacent to NAS Miramar and complaints from constituents about Navy expansion, especially from land developers; telegram (1/9/58) from Wilson to constituent re/ "Navy informs me they are still moving forward on acquisition plans;" letters (Dec. 57-Feb. 58) re/ members of a group owning 200 acres await Navy decision to purchase their land; office notes (2/7/58) re/ negotiation of 5443 acres of land south and west of NAS – project no. 192 for est. $5,700,000 – "mostly unimproved;" letter (2/3/58) from A. J. Sutherland (Senior VP, Security First National Bank) & Wilson's reply (2/6/58) re/ complaints from Mr. Sutherland that "the Navy has sterilized land around Camp Miramar. . . .;" a stapled packet of letters & telegrams (12/57-8/58) re/ rumors & responses "that the Navy will not purchase any lands within disputed 12,000 foot flight pattern south of Miramar;" a letter (5/22/59) from Ernest A. Becker (Builder, Developer, Realtor) re/ negotiating with Navy for 150 acres & office note (5/22/59) re/ the above noted negotiation.
