A collection of letters, telegrams, notes, photos, postal cards, news letters & other items. Examples are: a large stapled packet containing extensive correspondence from February 1958 through April 1959 regarding allegations of irregularities at the Naval Repair Facility, San Diego as reported by constituent Henry D. Pugh; a telegram (6/11/59) from constituent Irvin Dudley (Pres., U. S. Naval Repair Facility Employees Assn.), Congressman Wilson's reply (6/22/59) & attached copy of a letter (7/14/58) from President Dwight D. Eisenhower to Senator John M. Butler re/ discussion concern riders on Military Assistance Program diverting 50% to private industry and effect on Naval Repair Facility work load; letters (Aug.-Sept. 1959) from Chula Vista constituent Elmer S. Littleford, Congressman Wilson & his Admin. Assist., Leon W. Parma, & Capt. A. F. Romberg (Commanding Officer, Naval Repair Facility) re/ a complaint about examinations for civil service that stress Naval Service & equipment repair costs at the facility; letters (July-Sept. 1959) from I. C. Dudley (Employees Assn., Naval Repair Facility), Wilson, RAdm. R. L. Moore, Jr. (Deputy and Asst. Chief of the BuPers) & VAdm. Ralph E. Wilson (Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Logistics) re/ Mr. Dudley's protesting the expansion of maintenance and repair facilities of the Reserve Fleet Group at the Naval Station using naval personnel for repairs; a stapled packet containing corresp.(5/59) & b & w photos (4/58) re/ Spring Valley constituent (and Planner and Estimator at the Repair Facility) makes suggestions for correcting "waste of maintenance funds in general ship repair work;" letters (10/58-1/60) from Lemon Grove constituent Thomas J. Walsh, Wilson & Capt. A. K. Romberg (Commanding Officer, Naval Repair Facility) re/ Wilson's assistance to Mr. Walsh in hoping to resolve an employment issue as a rigger at the facility; other topics and issues in this folder are: letters (Jan.-Feb. 1960) re/ projected work load at the facility; a packet of postal cards (1960) from A.F.G.E Lodge 1211 to Wilson "against contracting out jobs to private yards" & in a response Wilson indicated that he had "always been sympathetic to maintaining adequate facilities and skills in our military workshops;" letters (Jan.-Feb. 1960) re/ attorney at law & alleged discrimination against Protestant employees at the repair facility; a packet of corresp. (Feb.-Mar. 1961) re/ concerns by constituents and the American Federation of Government Employees as to "changing the administrative work week of civilian workers at the Naval Repair Facility;" the remainder of the letters, telegrams and other communications in this folder are concerned with the management proposed work week change that certain45) employees would be required to work on Saturdays and Sundays.
