Examples are: letter & office memo (1/6/65) from Wilson & his staff to constituent James Slaton – in exploring the "possibility of installing a G. S. -15 in North Island, I find that the Navy holds a fairly strong objection to the idea;" a letter (1/11/65) from RAdm. I. J. Galantin (Dir., Special Projects, Dept. of the Navy) & a letter (1/21/65) from Wilson to James D. Slaton re/ trying to get Under Secretary Belieu to meet with North Island Assn. when he visits San Diego; Other topics and issues in this folder are: a packet containing letters, notes and news clippings (May-Oct. 1965) re/ Navy project needs in San Diego & increased work load caused by Vietnam War; a letter (8/65) to Wilson from the North Island Assn. re/ "the sincere appreciation of the 5555 members . . . for the courtesy you extended our representatives during their recent trip to Washington;" other letters (9/65) re/ North Island Assn. thanking Wilson for his support of expanding Fleet workload and new jobs at NAS & resignation of James Slaton as Assn. president; a copy of the North Island Assn.'s North Island Civilian (8/65) & Wilson's letter (9/30/65) congratulating Crosby Milne's election as Assn. president; "Memo [11/17/65] To The Boss From Ed," a letter (n.d.) from Coronado constituent Cmdr. L. B. Ensey (U.S. Navy Ret.) & copy of "Plan of the Day NAS North Island" for Sunrise to Sunset (3 Nov. 1965) re/ a political conservative is upset by certain restrictions on "The circulation or distribution of petitions and literature not associated with the mission of the U.S. Naval Air Station, North Island . . . ." as specified in the Plan of the Day; and letters (10/65) from RAdm. R.B. Moore (Commander Fleet Air San Diego) & Wilson re/ the Congressman's visit to North Island on 16 November.
