Scope and Contents
A collection of letters, news articles, memos, news clippings, postal cards & government documents. These are not filed chronologically. Examples are: stapled packet of letters & news article (June-July 1959) re/ American Emergency Committee for Tibetan Refugees and Lowell Thomas', "Flight from Tibet;" "Memo For File" (7/9/59) re/ attack by "Communist terrorists" on MAG group killing two officers; letters (July-Aug. 1959) re/ constituent's opposition to nuclear arms agreement between U.S. and West Germany; letters (July & Aug. 1959) from George S. Bush (The Saturday Evening Post), Congressman Wilson & Ambassador Robert C. Hill (Embassy, Mexico, D.F.) re/ reactions to negative articles in the Post on Tijuana and Baja California for American tourists; a letter (5/15/58) from San Diego constituent Morris Halcomb (A-1 Lock and Key Shop) his enclosed news clipping and Wilson's reply (6/4/58) re/ criticism of our financial assistance to the Dominican Republican and the Trujillo administration; letters (Sept.-Oct. 1959) re/ a retired U.S. Army Colonel and Wilson constituent expresses concern that our Laotian policies may lead to war; letters & postal card (Oct.-Nov 1959) from Chula Vista constituent B.L. Falk, Leon W. Parma (Admin. Asst. to Wilson, Florence Kirlin (Acting Asst. Secretary for Congressional Relations, State Dept.) & Margaret White (Secretary to Wilson) regarding reactions to Mr. Falk's postal card to Wilson with the image of a white feather & stressing appeasement as our current foreign relations with Soviet Russia; a letter (9/59) from a constituent (USN ret.) listing steps to take to establish a United Nations Police force; a 17 page copy of "Excerpt from 'Admiral Ambassador To Russia' written by William H. Hazard (3/59) re/ fear of Russian submarine attack on San Diego; stapled packet of letters (Jan.-Feb. 1959) re/ difficulty of a constituent in being able to return to and stay in Samoa; letters (4/59) re/ The American Center Corporation's recent activities; letters (Feb.-Mar. 1959) re/ Wilson and State Dept. responses to a constituent's concern about Mexico's conduct under the Presidency of Adolfo Lopez Mateos; a Spring Valley constituent (5/1/59) criticizes Vice President Nixon's statement concerning support for the World Court & Wilson sends him the full text of the speech; a copy of H.J. Res. 420 (6/9/59) re/ authorizing participation by the United States in parliamentary conferences in Mexico; letters (6/59) protesting imprisonment of Dr. Ernesto de le Fe in Cuba.
