A collection of letters, reports, news clippings & postal cards. Examples are: Citizens Committee for the Hoover Report, "Reorganization Record," January 11, 1956, Index, 20 pp.; a letter (3/20/57) from Buel-Town Co.(San Diego) to Wilson re/ "It looks like the budget had been written by Harry Truman;" a postal card (3/19/57) from San Diego constituents, The Kanters & Wilson's reply (3/23/57) re/ "Thank you for your message about the need for a reduction in federal expenditures;" a letter (3/21/57) from constituent Hoyt E. Ray (Deputy District Attorney) & Wilson's reply 3/26/57) re/ "Democrats in the State Election next year are getting ready to make the economy a real issue;" at least a dozens letters & postal cards from constituents & Wilson's replies (Mar.-Apr. 1957) re/ "recommendations of the Hoover Commission be implemented;" eleven constituent letters & Wilson's replies (5/57) re/ urging Wilson to support H.R. 2494, H.R. 5797, H.R. 5826 and H.R. 5789 that embody proposals of the Hoover Commission; letters, postal card and news clipping (5/15-5/17/57) re/ Hoover Commission be implemented – "Opportunity to Save Billions In Only Four Hoover Proposals," Evening Tribune; incomplete letter (5/14/57) from constituent Richard G. Skelton (San Diego Wholesale Credit Men's Assn) - urging support for Hoover Commission, competition with Democrats for "the negro vote" and anti Union Management remarks; copy of "Text of letter to the Honorable Clarence Cannon, Chairman, Committee on Appropriations, House of Representatives, from Clarence Frances, Chairman, Citizens Committee for the Hoover Report, May 16, 1957" and attached copies of "Special Research Memorandum No. 11 re/ "Specific Examples of Savings, Capital Returns, and Increased Revenues. . . May 20, 1957;" a letter (6/30/57) from the Citizens Committee for the Hoover Report re/ "Message To Editors" & attached copy of "Special Research Memorandum No. 12 . . . Hoover Report Proposals Before Congress, June 22, 1957;" a stapled packet of letters, postal cards and a news clipping (June-July 1957) re/ "Hoover Committee Reports Progress in Fund Revisions," The San Diego Union, June 2, 1957, a-29 & anti-tax, conservative constituent support for further reducing federal expenditures; a letter (10/30/57) from Clarence Francis (Chairman, Citizens Committee For the Hoover Report) re/ one of their "District Deputies" will call on Wilson "to talk over informally the major recommendations of the bipartisan Commission on Organization which will be under consideration by the next session of Congress."
