Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, telegrams and other items. Examples are: a stapled packet of letters (Feb.-May 1960) from constituent C.L. Young, Congressman Wilson, Capt. J. A. McHenry (Dist. Public Works Office, 11th Naval Dist.) & letters signed by a number of "Your Constituents of Wheatly Hills" re/ lack of access to school facilities caused by road closure, etc. in construction of Capehart Housing in Linda Vista; letters (Apr. - June, 1960) from Chula Vista constituent Mrs. Bennie G. Stovall, Wilson, Office of the Secretary of the Navy & Office of the Chief of Naval Operations re/ responses to Wilson's inquiry concerning an enlisted man's "assignment to the Capehart housing project now being constructed at San Diego;" additional items in this folder are: letters (5/59-1/61) re/ constituent concern about paving costs of Pico St. in relation to the new Capehart housing project in Pacific Beach; a letter (3/15/61) & attached copies of "information on the Title VIII (Capehart) housing programs – 5 items; 2 letters (Mar. & Apr. 1961) re/ information on housing from the Commandant of the Eleventh Naval District; a packet of letters (4/61) re/ more details on Naval housing for San Diego in response to a Republican constituent that does not support additional Capehart housing in San Diego; letters (Apr. & May, 1961) re/ El Cajon constituent worried about Capehart housing being terminated; letters (8/61) re/ a Silverdale, Washington resident's complain that "Capehart Housing . . . is . . . unfair to private ownership – as we cannot compete with Capehart rentals;" telegrams (5/61) re/ military construction bill and Pendleton Capeharts; letters (3/60) regarding "revision of the architectural design of the warehouse buildings in construction with the Capehart Housing Projects; & 1 page office note (3/17/60) re/ information on Capehart Housing.
