Scope and Contents

A large collection of letters, government records, telegrams, news clippings and other items. These are not filed chronologically nor organized systematically. Similar to Folder 4, the majority of the corresp. in this folder covers the status of the sale of Linda Vista project CAL-4092, constituent commentaries, Wilson's replies, information from the local and national :Public Housing Authorities, the interest of churches in Linda Vista in acquiring property and other issues. Examples are: a 1 page excerpt from the Congressional Record, vol. 101, No.32, Tuesday, February 22, 1955 featuring the remarks of the Honorable Bob Wilson on "Disposal Program at Linda Vista, Calif.;" letters (12/55) re/ controversy between Georgia Investment Company bid and one proposed by cash bidder C.W. Carlstrom; letters (2/10 & 2/23/55) constituent Donald Makie & Wilson re/ concern over PHA Faye Hartman's announcement "that sale of all future homes in Linda Vista will be frozen indefinitely. Her reasons were that there has been some misunderstanding as to who would pay for the cost of re-locating the public utility poles;" telegram & letter (2/13 & 2/23/55) re/ constituent alarmed over hold on sale of homes and relation to mayoral race; editorial commentary from The San Diego Union (2/25/55) re/ PHA "At Cross Purposes?" letters (1954 & 1955) re/ Linda Vista Baptist Bible College and Seminary" interesting purchasing property in Linda Vista for a campus; a letter (4/14.55) from Special Field Representative Faye Hartman (PHA) to Wilson re/ details on "Preference in purchase of the permanent units offered to individuals …."; news clipping from the Linda Vista Clairemont Press (4/21/55) re/ "Sidewalks Impossible For All Of Linda Vista Mrs. Hartman Tells Meeting" & a constituent letter concerning this problem; letters (5/55) from Edward R. Ames DDS, Wilson & Faye Hartman re/ historical background on Dr. Ames giving up his practice in Whittier in 1943 to relocate to Linda Vista since a dentist was needed, his current frustration in trying to obtain a business lot for his dental office & Mrs. Hartman's response; large collection of letters (1955 & some from 1941) re/ the dispute over utility distribution in Linda Vista.
