Scope and Contents

A collection of pamphlets, letters, telegrams, office notes and other items. These are not filed chronologically. Examples are: Pamphlets -- FHA No. 3250, "Cooperative Housing Program" (10/60); FHA No. 696 (9/60) "Nursing-Home Mortgage Insurance;" FHA No. 699, "Housing for you when you're 62 – What FHA does about it;" letters (Sept.-Oct. 1961) re/ constituent interest in housing for senior citizens; stapled packet of letters, telegram & press release (Apr.-Oct. 1961) re/ "St. Paul's Manor, a 65-unit home for elderly persons, will be built in San Diego, California, with the aid of a direct loan of $662,000," according to HHFA news; stapled packet of letters (Apr.-Nov. 1961) re/ application and processing of Mello Age Inc. Project No. 05-HE-19 to the Housing and Home Financing Agency to build 50 units for the elderly on Trojan Ave. in San Diego under the Senior Citizens Housing Loan Program; letters (12/59-1/60) re/ Senior Citizens Village Program, sponsored by the California Institute for Social Welfare – a $4-1/2 million Fresno project; letters (3/60-4/60) re/ "The Hospital and Medical Facilities Survey and Construction program makes funds available to assist in the construction of public and non profit hospitals and other medical facilities including nursing homes;" letters (4/60) re/ a WWI vet and retired civil service employee seeks information from HHFA to construct low-cost housing for the elderly in San Diego; El Cajon and La Mesa constituent letters (1/61) & Wilson's replies (2/2/61) re/ Army Distaff Foundation and interest in housing in San Diego for widows; letters (12/60-1/61) re/ L.O. Townsend Realty, Inc.'s interest in leasing 1000-1500 acres in Camp Elliott surplus land for a 49-99 year period to build a community for senior citizens; letters (1960-621) re/ constituents, Wilson & FHHA commentary on housing for the aged in the San Diego area.
