Scope and Contents
A small collection of letters, news clippings, & telegrams. Examples are: two letters (12/62 & 1/63) from Congressman Wilson re/ expediting constituent Mrs. Samuel Robert Frazee, Jr.’s passport; news clipping from The Evening Star (10/10/63) re/ “Senate Unit Acts to Halt Shift Passport Chief [Miss Frances Knight];” a letter (11/5/63) from constituent William Hanson & Wilson’s reply (11/21/63) re/ protest against current State Dept. action in the dismissal of Otto F. Otepka and the harassment of Miss Knight; letters (4/65) from constituent Julia E. Drury, Wilson & Milton D. Swenson (Chief, Personal Census Service Branch, Bureau of the Census re/ Wilson’s assistance in obtaining 1890 census records to confirm Julia Dury’s citizenship by birth in Ohio in 1886; stapled packet of letters & telegrams (Feb. – Mar. 1965) from constituents Captain E. Robert Anderson, Harry L. Summers, Edmund V. Sawyer, Wilson’s secretary Margaret Young, MacArthur II (Asst. Secretary for Congressional Relations, Dept. of State) re/ Mr. Sawyer’s request for a new passport, rather than to renew his previous passport, created additional review processing in Washington, so Wilson and other important San Diegans came to the rescue.
