A collection of letters, news clippings, reports, employment forms & other items; Examples are: a copy of a letter (12/31/56) from Coronado constituent Lt. Com. U.S.N. (retired) to the Honorable Francis E. Walter, M.C., House Office Bldg., Washington, D.C. re/ anti-communist appeal and support for help to Hungarian refugees; letters (Dec. 1956 & Jan. 1957) from La Jolla constituent Frank B. Davenport & Wilson’s reply re/ praise for Wilson, medical help & reference to assistance to Hungarian relief; news clipping & letter (1/9/57) from Wilson to Paul St. Pierre re/ “[SDSC] Hungarian Student Fund Totals $1,600” to bring these refugee students to San Diego; a letter (1/16/57) from Tracy S. Voorhees (Chairman, The President’s Committee on Hungarian Relief) re/ information to Congressman Wilson, 2 copies of “Offer of Housing and/or Employment for Hungarian Refugees” & “latest available statement of the number of arrivals at Kilmer [Reception Center] and the departure for settlement;” a copy of “Outline of the Organization and Work of the President’s Committee for Hungarian Refugee Relief in Assisting in Resettlement of Hungarian Refugees,” 7 January 1957, pages + charts, graphs, forms & directory; other items in this folder are: letters (12/56 & 1/57) re/ Scripps Clinic requests information on potential to use Hungarian refugee physicians in their Research Dept.; letters (1/57) & news clipping re/ “A disgusted Republican” constituent complains to Wilson about Hungarian refugees taking high paying jobs from employable San Diegans; letters (12/56 & 1/57) re/ Republican Women’s Club of El Cajon contributes $10 to the Joyce Kilmer Reception Center; a copy of “Recent Hungarian Refugees and Parolees Admitted By Major Occupation Group, Marital Status, Sex, and Age (Through January 29, 1957);” “Memorandum For: Members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives From: Tracy S.
