Scope and Contents
A collection of letters, telegrams, notes & a Dept. of Commerce publication. Examples are: a letter (10/23/53) from W. R. Keizer (Spokane, WA) & Wilson Admin. Asst. E. F. Terrar, Jr.’s reply (11/10/53) re/ Mr. Keizer referenced the game “Table Tether Ball” that Wilson invented and marketed and asked for advice on a game he had devised for adults and children that was played with a ball; letters (Feb.-Nov. 1953) re/ 2 suggestions to the Dept. of the Navy submitted by Naval Air Station employees Lawrence Beckwith, Sr. & Thomas D. Hutchinson for “A Method of De-Gassing Fuel Tanks in Aircraft” & “Saving Man Hours and Material by the Use of More Surplus Spare Parts in the Supply Department;” letter (8/21/53) from E. W. Chapin (Librarian, U.S. Patent Office, Dept. of Commerce) and attached copy of Dedicated Patents, Jan. 1950, 69 pages; letters (Feb.-Mar. 1955) re/ La Jolla constituent’s invention of “a vacuum cleaner attachment, whose purpose is the removal of dog and cat hairs from rugs and carpets;” letters, telegram & office note (May-June 1955) re/ Treasury Dept. interest in “a .22 caliber ‘powderhead’ designed and produced by one Jack Prodanovich . . . San Diego, California, ostensibly as a component part of equipment used by skin divers for spear fishing;” a constituent letter (6/5/55) & Wilson’s reply (6/23/55) re/ an “apparent infringement upon your idea with regard to the gas turbine engines;” letters (June-July 1955) from Lakeside constituent Paul J. Smith, Wilson & Commission Robert C. Watson (U.S. Patent Office) re/ inquiry as to mineral rights retained by the federal government on RR lands and patent now held by Atlas Corp. pertaining to metal castings, using frozen mercury; letters (12/55-2/56) re/ interest of Walter McAdams Products (El Cajon, CA) & Congressman Wilson in several marketable products & reference to the Annual National Housewares Exhibition at Navy Pier in N.Y.; stapled packet of letters (Feb.-May 1955) re/ National City constituent Parker P. Hilty’s suggestions to the National Inventor’s Council about his “aircraft carrier of the ocean of space – what a carrier of the sea does for aircraft . . . . No fiber –all metal . . . Power plants are six engines in swept-back wings of reversible jet engines, driven by Atomic Reactor for main sources of supply power.”
