Scope and Contents

A small collection of letters, news clippings, a telegram & a news letter. Examples are: a letter (1/28/54) from constituent Mrs. Art. J. Douglas & Wilson’s reply (2/5/54) re/ query from Mrs. Douglas as to her unemployment as a civil service worker and difficulty in finding employment; letters (July-Oct. 1955) from Wilson, E.F. Terrar, Jr. (Wilson’s Admin. Asst.), Cmdr. W. G. Thatcher (Asst. Head, Discipline Section, Enlisted Performance Branch, Bureau of Naval Personnel) & Charles C. Gilbert (Sec-Trea., Chauffeurs, Garage and Automotive Employees, Local 481 re/ a dispute with ABC Cab Company of San Diego and the part-time civilian employment of Naval Personnel by the company; letters (12/57-2/59) from constituent Andrew Kierna & Wilson re/ personal & political commentary, information on “Andy’s” union membership as a marine electrician & the difficulties of Mr. Kierna was having in obtaining reemployment from National Steel and Ship Building Corp.; letters & news clipping (Feb.-Mar. 1959) re/ unemployed constituent, Andrew Kierna, sends a news clipping about the scraping of mothballed navy ships & queries Wilson about a job removing electrical materials from these ships; letters & telegram (3/59) from Andrew Kierna, Wilson, Leon Parma (Wilson’s Admin. Asst.) & General Lewis B. Hershey (Dir., Selective Service System) re/ further attempts by constituent Kierna to use Congressman Wilson to find employment for him in what sounds like a scam involving prospective draftees, which Wilson correctly inhibited; news clipping (Tribune, 5/29/59, a1) re/ “Payrolls in County Hit Record 239,500 Retail Trade, Building List Biggest Gains;” a copy of “Research Department Security First National Bank,” Monthly Summary of Business Conditions in Southern California (Vol. 38, No. 5, May 1959); letters (3/59) re/ San Diego constituent and Wilson discuss employment in one of the aircraft companies in San Diego; letters (3/59) re/ El Cajon constituent and Wilson discuss problem of obtaining employment with San Diego aircraft companies; letters (Oct.-Dec. 1959) re/ San Diego constituent Mrs. Joseph Fregly and Wilson discuss problem people over 45 have in finding employment.
