Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, a reprint of a periodical article, a postal card, a resolution & a telegram. Examples are: a copy of a letter (2/13/58) from Charles J. Hardy (Sec.-Treas., Local Joint Executive Board of San Diego County) to Harry Florentine (San Diego Tavern Owners Assn.) re/ “reference to non-union [military] service personnel working in Association houses covered under Master Agreement” that is in violation of the established working agreement; letters (Mar.& Apr. ’58) re/ copy of “An Open Letter to Organized Labor” from San Diego constituent Mrs. Mary M. Wisenberg; letters (5/58) & San Diego Union news clipping re/ a constituent’s views about the need for secret ballots & other corrective measures as to handling funds in unions; letters (5/58) re/ San Diego County Farm Bureau sets “forth five points with respect to legislation which will affect labor unions,” these are all anti-union suggestions; a letter (5/9/58) from La Mesa constituent Frank A. Ferrone & Wilson’s reply (5/31/58) re/ alleged misleading radio announcements concerning right-to-work laws; copy of a letter (1/29/58) from James W. Archer (Cray, Cary, Ames &Frye) to Senator Knowland re/ 85th Cong. 1st Sess. S. 1723, S. 1772 and H. 6432; letters (5/58) re/ San Diego constituent support for Senator Knowland’s right-towork legislation; letters (7/58) re/ a constituent’s support for legislation restricting labor leaders and her support for a Wilson victory in November; letters & periodical reprint (9/58) re/ “A Reader’s Digest Reprint of “What Union Members Have Been Writing Senator McCellan;” letter & postal card (Sept. & Oct. ’58) re/ “what a private citizen can do to register a protest against the Teamster’s Union and their President, Mr. James Hoffa;” letters & “Resolution #3” (8/58) re/ a “resolution adopted by the delegates of the California Pipe Trades Council Convention relative to the Taft-Hartley Law” to eliminate those sections that favors management over unions; letters (12/58) re/ Personnel & Security Mgr. Leslie E. Geheres (Ryan Aeronautical Co.), his letter to “Dick Nixon” & his concerns about Federal Government take over of unemployment laws; a telegram (12/22/58) from Charles Bioletti (Regional Dir., UAW Region 6) re/ will Wilson support to amend House rule to re-establish 21 Day Rule ?
