Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, a news clippings & a bulletin. Examples are: a letter (6/25/60) from San Diego constituent M. A. Nielsen & Wilson’s reply (7/5/60) re/ comments on Camp Matthews transfer to Univ. of California & “Salk property;” news clippings – “Fisher Repeats UCLJ Assurances” & “UC Stalls Campus OK, Wilson Claims,” The San Diego Union (6/26/60) & “Matthew’s Move Called Years Away,” Tribune (6/27/60); statements (7/2/60) by Congressman Wilson – 2 pages each re/ “One of the most beautiful sights in Washington, in my opinion, is the display of fifty American flags encircling the base of the Washington Monument” & his Joint Resolution about the raising and lowering of flags and his introduction of “a Concurrent Resolution” requesting the President appoint a special commission creating a private organization to assist students visiting Washington as to our nation’s heritage; a letter (6/22/60) from La Jolla constituent Andrew Andeck & Wilson’s reply (7/1/60) re/ transfer of Camp Matthews to the UC System; letters (May & June 1960) re/ comments of Brigadier General C. R. Allen (USMC HQ, Washington) & Wilson’s reply as to Camp Matthews transfer to UC System; a letter (6/6/60) from Gordon L. Anderson (Asst. Dir. for Publications, Nat. Assn. of County Officials) & Wilson’s reply (6/15/60) re/ NACO’s plan to establish a legislative program concerning Western problems; a letter (5/24/60) from Col. A. H. Campbell (Peninsula Retired Officers’ Club) & Wilson’s reply (5/26/60) re/ praise for Wilson’s efforts in aiding the passage of H. R. 11318; a copy of the American Legion’s Nation Legislative Bulletin (3 June 1960) re/ “An Open Letter to the House of Representatives . . . . A Brief History of War Veterans’ Government Life Insurance;” a letter (6/24/60) from E. W. Blom (Asst. City Mgr., City of San Diego) to Wilson re/ “preliminary discussion with our tenant on the City-owned land in Tijuana Valley, Mr. Peavey;” Three letters that focus on private immigration bills – Commissioner J.M. Swing (July 15, 1955) & Congressman Emanuel Celler (July 28 & 30, 1955). These letters should be filed in a Folder covering Immigration and Naturalization.
