Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, lists of general legislation, memorandum, excerpts from the Congressional Record & House documents, office notes, memos & a booklet. Examples are: “Memorandum For Leon, From: Jane, Subject: Legislation” (4/28/61) – 2 copies of “General Legislation – 86th Congress” – 4 pp. each & these are broken down into “General Bills – 42” & “Resolutions – 7;” a letter (6/13/61) from Congressman Harold T. (Buzz) Johnson & enclosed copy of a bill introduced at the request of the State of California – H. R. 7561 – “For the relief of certain counties, cities and other political subdivisions;” letters (Mar. & June 1961 & attached printed excerpt from the Congressional Record (6/23/59) re/ peace petition related to Cuba and excerpt from Senator Russell’s remarks on “World Peace;” copies of a number of House of Representative bills “For the relief of” a number of persons to be admitted to the United States (1953-1955) & a copy a bill (3/31/53) “For the relief of the Cabrillo Land Company, of San Diego, California” for claims in payment for petroleum products to the Dept. of the Interior; copies of bills introduced by Congressman Wilson to the 83rd Cong., 1st Sess. H. R. 3649, H.R.7489, H.R. 8840 & H.R. 1614; a copy of a joint resolution introduced by Wilson – 83rd Cong., 1st Sess. H.J. Res. 182 “Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relative to equal rights for men and women;” a copy of a resolution submitted by Senator Humphrey to the 86th Cong., 1st Sess. S. Res. 23 re/ agreement needed for mobile radio transmitting stations licensed by U.S. and Mexico; a letter (12/26/61) from constituent Mrs. H. L. Swain & Wilson’s reply (12/29/61) re/ Bill H. R. 6603 for adopting a little boy, “Paul Adrian Tucek;” memo, business card of D. H. Jensen & copy of Consumer Savings News (Vol. 1, No. 1, Nov. 1961) re/ Wilson’s evaluation requested; a letter (3/24/61) from Stanley Tucker (Sec., Northshores Amateur Radio Club) re/ support for “reciprocal licensing of Mexican and other Nationals;” stapled packet of letters & notes (Feb.-Mar. 1961) re/ further information and comment as to USA-Mexico reciprocal radio licensing & the San Diego DX Club; a letter (n.d.) from Congressman Paul A. Fino to Wilson requesting support for the idea a National Lottery; letters (4/14 & 4/15/ 61) from Congressmen Bob Wilson & Clarence Cannon re/ Wilson’s request to restrict funding related to the “International Outfall Sewer in the Tijuana River to be constructed on the United States side of the Mexican – U.S. border” until Mexico completes her sewer alleviation side of such a project; a copy of a “Report From Your Congressman, John F. Baldwin, April 21, 1961” re/ comments of a positive nature on the House’s passing of H. R. 6027, the Social Security Amendment Act of 1961. The vote was 399 to 14.
