Scope and Contents
Only one letter (3/26/62) from Bernard Noodlman (Mgr., Pacific Coast District, Converse Rubber Company) re/ “Now that hearings have begun on H.R. 9900 and the pressures from the free traders for its passage have built up so alarmingly, we are compelled to express our strong opposition to the bill in its present form under present circumstances.” He then lists studies that show losses in domestic manufacturing industries with high labor costs. “Our rubber footware industry . . . [has] been priced out of foreign markets for more than a generation. Now we face being priced out of our domestic markets.”
