Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, sample copy of New World Review, statement & promotional literature. Examples are: letters (Feb.-Mar. 1961) from constituent Miss Carol Reed, Wilson, Tom Murray (Chairman, House Committee on Post Office and Civil Service) & H. W. Brawley (The Deputy Postmaster General) re/ Miss Reed’s suggestion to help “Missionaries already overseas by reducing the postal rates of packages to foreign field missions;” a letter (4/12/61) from the Honorable L. Mendel Rivers (Committee on Armed Services) & Wilson’s reply (4/25/61) re/ a memento commemorating the 100th anniversary of the beginning of “the War Between the States;” a large stapled packet containing letters, a New World Review subscription form, a sample copy of New World Review (Mar. 1961) & a “Statement By the General Counsel of the Post Office Department Concerning Communist and Other Foreign Political and Cultural Publications” re/ Wilson responds to a constituent’s complaint regarding “Russian propaganda pamphlets in the United States mails;” letters & promotional material (5/61) re/ Senator Burdick (North Dakota) sends Wilson information received from “a small business man in Arthur, North Dakota” complaining against raising the cost of third class mail higher than the present 2½ cent rate;” a letter (8/20/61) from Anderson Borthwick (President, First National Bank) & Wilson’s reply (8/28/61) re/ a “First Day Cover commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of Naval Aviation, which originated in San Diego on August 20, 1911.”
