Scope and Contents
A collection of letters & a news release. Examples are: a large stapled packet of letters & a news release (Feb-Mar. 1962) re/ extensive commentary from various San Diego labor unions, businesses, constituents, Wilson and the Post Office Dept. as to the commemorative stamp to mark the 25th Anniversary of the National Apprenticeship Act and honoring the training program as the “Nucleus of Craftmanship.” The Fitzgerald Act of August 16, 1937 creating the Department of Labor in 1937 was also honored with this stamp; a letter (1/31/62) from constituent Frank E. Osen & Wilson’s reply (3/16/62) re/ praise for Wilson from this constituent, suggestion for commemorative stamp and payment of lump sum for unused sick leave upon retirement from the Post Office and Civil Service; a letter (8/8/62) from Congressman Ray Roberts (TX) to Dear Colleague re/ Sam Rayburn stamp and refer to it in your newsletters; a letter (11/15/62) from constituent Adolf G. H. Kreiss & Wilson’s reply (11/20/62) re/ “I appreciate your kind remarks concerning my re-election. . . .” Mr. Kreiss has several very negative and conservative comments on the Postmaster’s decision with respect to the Dag Hammarskjold Commemorative Stamp and misprints that were issued.
