Examples are: letters (4/53) & 2 copies of Office of Naval Records and History, Ships’ Histories Section, Navy Dept., “History of the USS Mission Bay (CVE 59) – compiled Sept. 1951 re/ San Diego Mayor John Butler, Congressman Wilson & RAdm John R. Heffernan, Ret. (Dir. of Naval History) respond to Wilson and Butler’s interest in this ship; a letter (5/13/53) from Mayor Butler to Wilson re/ lack of “local recognition given this ship or any publicity attendant to its operations;” letter (7/16/59) from Sterling Rounthwaite (Commodore, Mission Bay Yacht Club) to Wilson re/ “would appreciate obtaining the Ship’s Bell from the U.S.S.
