Scope and Contents

A large collection of letters, resolutions, draft report for Arizona vs. California, recommendations, news clippings, summary statements, proposed amendments & news releases. Examples are: a letter (1/5/60) from constituents Gene Tully & May McKee & Wilson’s reply (1/14/60) re/ potential water shortage in the Central Valley & controversy over the Feather River Project sending water to Southern California; a letter (12/59) from the J. Edgar Dick (Secretary, California Cattlemen’s Assn.) & Wilson’s reply (1/8/60) re/ the Association’s Resolution comment on “Acreage Limitation for the Use of Water” is “an injustice and a fraud on small and large landowners alike as well as the public” – The Federal Reclamation Law of 1902 is obsolete; a 7 page letter (5/5/60) from Harold W. R. 4606 18 May 1960 (50 pp.); a copy of Statement by Carley V. Porter, Chairman of the Assembly Water Committee California Legislature Before the United States Senate Select Committee on National Water Resources May 24, 1960 (10 pp.); letters (5/60) & copies of “Amendments Proposed to H. R. 9229, to authorize the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project” & “Comments of Colorado River Board of California on Proposed Report of the Secretary of the Interior on Ruedi Dam and Reservoir, Colorado, dated 6/September, 1950;” a letter (6/1/60) & Resolution (5/5/6) from the American Public Power Assn. re/ opposition to H.
