Examples are: State of California, Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Small Craft Harbors, Minutes of the Meeting Small Craft Harbors Commission South San Francisco, California January 21, 1963, 20 pages; letter (1/31/63) & attached copy of Citizens Forestry Study Group of San Diego County “Resolution Urging Continued Adherence to the Forest Service Policy of Multiple Use of the National Forests. Adopted by the Citizens’ Forestry Study Group . . . January 10, 1963;” a letter (3/21/63) from Daniel G. Aldrich, Jr. (University Dean of Agriculture, The University of California) to Wilson supporting Public Law 87-733, commonly called the Forest Research Act;” letters (3/63) re/ draft of new regulations proposed by Agriculture for publication in the Code of Federal Regulations; letters (Apr. 1963) re/ information on the proposed Channel Islands National Park; letters (Apr.-June 1963) re/ expanded information here as to complaints of several mining claim constituents of Wilson as to the proposed Wilderness Act and potential loss of claims or cabins; letters (5/27 & 6/7/63) & attached advertisement re/ Wilson said he “was pleased to see in the Sunset Magazine the generous recognition of the United States Forest Service by the Richfield Oil Corporation;” a letter (6/25/63) from Mrs. Susan H. Motte (Chairman, California History and Landmarks, San Diego District, CFWC), a news clipping “Padre Dam Eligible as Landmark” & Wilson’s reply (6/13/63) re/ the “dedication of Padre Dam . . . has not yet been set . . . all arrangements are being handled by the City of San Diego;” letters (6/63) re/ the concerns of retired RAdm. Clarence E. Coffin (Coronado) about commercial threats to the Wilderness Area of San Gorgonio in the San Bernardino National Forest are responded to by Assemblyman Richard Barnes; letters (June-Aug. 1963) re/ responses to the Reverend George A. Nelson’s (Calvary Lutheran Church, 54th St., San Diego) search for International Boundary Monument No. 258, “the southwesternmost point of the continental United States;” letters (Aug. & Nov. 1963) re/ a water problem at Horse Haven caused by Troop 877 of the Boy Scouts of America; stapled packet containing letters , a re-election campaign sheet, a copy of the Pacific Mineral Society, “A Brief On Proposed Public Land Laws”(15 pages) & a copy of “Confiscating the Land,” The Dan Smoot Report (Vol. 9, No. 30, July 29, 1963) re/ Spring Valley resident L. E. “Lucky” Miller (Chairman, Committee on National Parks & Forests, The Trailer Clubs of American, Inc.) is concerned about the federal government’s current actions. As a conservative Republican, Mr. Miller wishes Congressman Wilson to have all the latest information on this topic.
