Scope and Contents
Only two major items. (1) letters & news clipping (Jan – Feb. 1955) from R. D. Whitson (VP, The Whitson Co.), Harold B. Starkey (President, First Federal Savings and Loan Assn.) & Wilson re/ information on the increase in receipts at several local post offices and the Whitson Co.’s decision to withdraw their proposals for new post office quarters in Hillcrest; & (2) office note & letters (8/55) from Frank Curran (Secretary, San Diego Aerie 244, Fraternal Order of Eagles), E.F. Terrar, Jr. (Admin. Asst. to Wilson), Ormonde A. Kieb (Asst. Postmaster General) & Rollin D. Barnard (Acting Asst. Postmaster General) re/ clarification for “Case No. 67852” – “The Department has accepted the proposal submitted by the Whitson company to lease quarters located on the west side of 5th Avenue between Washington and University Avenue. The new lease will be for a period of ten years.”
