Scope and Contents
A collection of letters & a Resolution. Examples are: copies of letters (3/7/60) from Wilson to Palm City constituent Louis E. Maringer & Robert Fahs (Asst. to the Regional Dir., Post Office Dept., S.F.) re/ information on closing out the Palm City Post Office and incorporating “it with the Imperial Beach Post Office because of conflicts in delivery, etc.;” a letter (3/23/60) from Verne Scoggins (Regional Operations Dir., S.F.) re/ “postal problems in the Palm City area;” a letter (3/14/60) from T. W. Fletcher (Asst. to the S.D. City Mgr.) & Wilson’s reply (3/23/60) re/ “the City of San Diego is on record as being in favor of having the South San Diego area included within the San Diego postal system;” stapled packet of letters & “Resolution No. 144884” (MayApr. 1960) re/ “it is the desire of the Council of the City of San Diego to facilitate the municipal integration of this area with San Diego”- described as “21-1/2 square miles and containing the communities of San Ysidro, Nestor and Palm City;” a letter (4/8/60) from Scroggins to Wilson acknowledging receiving an enclosed petition from residents of Palm City; letters (Apr.-July 1960) re/ commentary about the 100 signatory petition to reestablish a Post Office at Palm City, commentary on transportation & other difficulties from constituent Louis E. Maringer.
