A collection of letters. Examples are: letters (Jan.-Mar. 1957) from Wilson, RAdm. Elton W. Grenfell (Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet) & Miss Bonnie Passenheim’s thank you card re/ Miss Passenheim, her brother and friends got to visit the USS Sperry and the submarine Raton thanks to the efforts of Captain Jack Lee; a letter (2/12/57) from Wilton B. Persons (The Deputy Asst. to the President) to Wilson re/ “I shall be glad to see if I can get the photograph autographed for Mrs. Austin Selz;” a letter (3/21/57) from Miss Myrana Lois Mignott (10th grade student at Lincoln High School) & Wilson’s reply (3/28/57) re/ Wilson responds to four questions from Miss Mignott – he said no to giving 18 year olds the vote & yes to statehood for Hawaii and Alaska; a letter (4/22/57) from A. R. Curtis & Wilson’s reply (5/1/57) re/ Canadian citizen Currie, an employee of Trepte Const. Co., sought Wilson’s assistance in obtaining security clearance so he could work on Trepte jobs on San Diego military bases – Wilson indicated it was each base commander’s decision; a letter (5/11/57) from Bryce N. Harlow (Admin. Asst. to the President) to Wilson re/ a response to Wilson’s query about obtaining a Presidential message recognizing the Golden Anniversary of the Air Force; a letter (5/7/57) from Richard L. Brockett, Jr. & Wilson’s reply (6/11/57) re/ personal information about this boy, his family and friend Wilson; a letter (7/18/57) from Henry W. Rosley & Wilson’s reply (7/30/57) re/ Mr. Rosley and his wife had moved from San Diego to Newcastle, Northern Ireland and sent information about Northern Ireland to Wilson to share with his Congressional colleagues – Rosley had been the Secretary of the Clairemont Town Council; letters (8/57) re/ Wilson & the State Dept. respond to query from Chula Vista resident & teacher John W. Price about the organization “Council On Student Travel;” letters (8/57) re/ Wilson and the State Dept. respond to the concerns of a constituent, George H. Cheney, about a 80 year old neighbor’s loss of money in a bank in Mexico with the devaluation of the Peso; letters (Aug.- Nov. 1957) re/ complicated issues are covered as to civilian yachting and anchorage in areas close to Fort Rosecrans within San Diego Bay; copy of Wilson letter (12/31/57) to A/2C William F. Browne (Lowry AFB, Colorado) re/ comments and “all your cousins here hope you had a Happy Holiday Season;” a letter (12/3/57) from Lowell Davies (Davies and Burch, Attorneys at Law) to Wilson re/ support for Wilson and “thank you for your thoughtfulness in joining the ‘Globe 400.’”
