Scope and Contents

A collection of letters & postal cards that follow a similar pattern of request and response contained in the previous folders in this box. Most cover the months of November and December, but are not filed consecutively. They all appear to be requests for the 1963 Yearbook A PLACE TO LIVE. Selected examples are: several letters & a postal card (Dec.) from constituents Miss Monti Kimmerling, Dr. Easter E. Cupp, Louis Zazloff, Walter Wilkins & Thorvald Andersen & Wilson’s replies re/ request for A PLACE TO LIVE; letters & office note (Nov. & Dec.) re/ “Dear Bob and Brother Elk: Thanks for your ‘Aye’ vote on HR 8969 . . . and the ‘Nay’ on the second. . . . I would appreciate a copy of the 1963 Agricultural Yearbook A PLACE TO LIVE;” letters (11/30 & 12/6) re/ Mar Vista Jr. High School science and earth science teacher Byron Broudy thanks Wilson for help on previous occasions and requests a copy of A PLACE TO LIVE; letters (12/1 & 12/6) re/ Dr. R. F. Niehaus (Radiology Medical Group) is sent a copy of A PLACE TO LIVE; letters (Aug. & Dec.) re/ delayed request of A PLACE TO LIVE; 2 letters (1/30 & 12/5) from Wilson to El Cajon constituent Mr. W.S, Head re/ “The enclosed copy of a speech I made on the floor of the House of Representatives sums up my views on the need for pay increases for our Armed Forces. . . . The 1963 Agricultural Yearbook will not be available until late summer or early fall” & in December Wilson indicated “we are forwarding you a copy of . . . A PLACE TO LIVE;” letters (11/17 & 12/5) re/ Carroll F. Orendurff (Greater Mountain Empire Soil Conservation District) requests & will receive A PLACE TO LIVE; similar letters (12/13 & 18) re/ C. D. Gustafson (Farm Advisor, Agricultural Extension Service, S. D. County, Univ. of Calif.) was sent a copy of A PLACE TO LIVE; others receiving this title in December were Beverly A. Martyn (Librarian, Horace Mann Junior High School), San Diegans James F. Craven, Jr. & C. P. Lowerre, Lemon Grove constituent Cecil S. Badman, SDSC Asst. Professor of Biology Merrel A. Taylor (for a conference on Problems of Urban Fringe Development), constituent Lewis W. McGee, La Mesans Daniel B. Thomas & Fred McNamara, Miss Dorothy Van Nice (Documents Librarian, San Diego Public Library), Miss Elizabeth N. Lee (Librarian, Govt. Reference Library, City of San Diego) & Kenneth K. Little, Jr. (Dept. of Agriculture, County of San Diego) & letters (9/30 & 10/7) re/ Borrego Springs constituent Robert E. Thomason was informed by Wilson that the 1963 Yearbook would be available later on this month.
