Scope and Contents

A small collection of letters, notes, telegrams, an “ArmyNavy” program brochure & an envelope containing instructions for ordering tickets. Examples are: an envelope sent April 27th & received the 30th from the Ticket Office, Air Force Academy Athletic Assn. to Wilson re/ Association Member applications for each of 10 games scheduled between Sept. and Nov. 1960 & a season ticket application; a letter (7/1/60) from Capt. Asbury Coward (Dir. of Athletics, Naval Academy Athletic Assn.) re/ “Your honorary membership card in the Naval Academy Athletic Association [not in packet], Navy’s 1960 football schedule, and a set of forms to be used when applying for tickets are enclosed;” a letter (6/7) from Congressman James E. Van Zandt (20th Dist., PA) – “Dear Colleague: Since my Congressional District in Pennsylvania is close to the Philadelphia area, I receive numerous requests for tickets to the annual Army-Navy football game to be played in that city on November 26, 1960. If you do not intend to order any tickets, I shall appreciate your kindness in signing your order blanks and giving them to me;” phone message (9/29) – “Cong. Jonas interested in tickets if we have any extra;” letters (9/15 & 9/20) re/ Congressman Bates (Mass.) is flooded with requests for tickets and asks Wilson if he has some in his allotment; letters (Sept.) re/ similar to the previous request, this one is from Congressman Fallon (Maryland); “Memo To SOS Members” from Congressman Frelinghuysen’s Washington Office (11/10) re/ Army-Navy game on Saturday, Nov. 26 – He needs extra tickets; small stapled packet containing telegrams & letters (Nov.) re/ Wilson and his office respond to requests for tickets from fellow Republican John Rousselot of San Marino, CA, also some personal information from Leon Parma; a letter (10/3) from Congressman Joel T. Broyhill (10th Dist., Virginia) re/ “Dear Colleague: The deadline for receipt of Army-Navy game ticket applications is October 11th. If you do not intend to utilize your full quota, I would appreciate the opportunity of obtaining the remainder.”
