Scope and Contents
A collection of letters, notes, lists & other items. These are not filed in consecutive, chronological order. Examples are: a letter & Christmas Card (1/30/64) from San Diego constituents Mrs. Gilbert S. Wright to Wilson re/ personal information, thanks for House of Representatives calendar & commentary on moving to a location near Edwards Air Force Base; 4 pages of “Sponsor’s Certificate” of names and addresses (1964); a letter (1/13/64) from Ralph R. Roberts (Clerk, U.S. House of Representatives) to Wilson re/ “I shall make every effort to fulfill your request for an additional 200 Calendars for 1964;” 4 pages of “Calendar List 1964 sent Feb 3” of names and addresses; letters (3/25 & 3/27/64) from Attorney Hunter M. Muir & Dr. Matthew C. Gleason to Wilson thanking him for “the calendar with your personal inscription;” letters & office note from Wilson & Ralph R. Roberts (Clerk, U.S. House of Representatives re/ “In response to your letter of January 15, 1965, I shall make every effort to fulfill your request for an additional 300 calendars; a large number of letters (green flimsies) for Nov. & Dec./64 from Wilson (Washington, S.D. & Coronado offices) thanking various people for their help in Wilson’s campaign; a letter (8/1) from Mrs. John R. Lynch (Chula Vista to Mrs. Lloyd Harmon (Coronado) & a letter (9/4) from Wilson to Mrs. Lloyd Harmon re/ the “dedicated and unselfish efforts” of Mrs. Harmon in the campaign’s “Project Envelope;” copy of a letter (9/22) from Wilson to Albert Harutunian re/ “Dear Al: You are a gem: Can’t thank you enough for the coffee you supplied for our Television Coffee Hours;” a copy of a letter (11/19) from Wilson to Herbert Newton re/ “Thank you for the part you played in making my Bahia Belle party such a tremendous success. Your music was outstanding. . . . it even had me tripping the light fantastic;” letters (10/5) from Bill Evans (The Bahia Motor Hotel) to Ed Gillenwaters & Wilson’s reply (12/7) to Evans re/ “Enclosed are twenty tickets to the Bob Wilson Fund Raising Cruise “ & other details & Wilson’s comment – “In looking back I think the Bahia Belle Party was one of the real highlights. It was a lot of fun and in addition made a major contribution to my campaign financing; office note & letters (1/15 & 1/18/65) re/ request for 300 additional calendars & a response; letters (2/18, 2/24 & 2/27/65) from constituents Robert L. Hippen - M.D., Matthew C. Gleason - M. D. & Evan J. Jones to Wilson re/ thanking Wilson for the calendars – “we will back you up on the home front;” a copy of San Diego Business (Vol. 33, No. 3, Feb. 1965) & an office memo re/ “Maybe you would like to check the list for Calendars (the ones w/Xs are not on list” – this a S.D. Chamber of Commerce listing of officers, managers & directors; small photo of a sitting gentleman with cane with a notation on the back, “Nov. 1963 94 yrs. old;” 5 pages (12/16/64) --“List of People Who Received ‘We the People’ Book from Bob Wilson for Christmas” & an office memo.
