Scope and Contents

Wilson’s “Congressional Directory List – 86th Congress, 2nd Session, 1960” with names of those who receive copies of these directories & an assortment of letters & notes requesting the current directory; Examples are: a letter (1/4) from Harold F. Cary (Asst. to the President of the Van Camp Sea Food Co.) re/ a request to Margaret Young (Wilson’s Secretary) for a copy of the Congressional Directory. Cary, as a Wilson constituent, but sometime resident of Long Beach, indicated that his employer needed a directory in their main office; stapled notes, letters & Directory List (Jan.) re/ requests & comments from the S.D. Chamber of Commerce, The San Diego Union & Elizabeth Lee (City of San Diego Librarian); letter (2/9) from S.D. Mayor Charles C. Dail thanking Wilson for the Directory covering the 2nd Session of the 86th Congress; letters (1/26 & 2/8) re/ constituent Norman Smith requests a Directory but is informed by Wilson that his supply of 25 copies has been consumed by those on his waiting list; similar letters (Feb.- Aug.) inform Mrs. Mary Butterfield, Jim Brown (Station KGB), Donald M. Robinson (Superintendent, Cabrillo National Monument), Miss Nelle M. Walkey, James M. Pridgeon (Principal, Harborside School), Hillard L. Wear (Republican & “old-time Congressional Secretary in the Capitol”) & a David W. Glover (a cadet at Fort Union Military Academy) that Wilson’s supply is exhausted; an alteration of this pattern can be found in letters written (2/19, 3/2 & 3/8) where in Wilson indicates to Miss Irma Sue Durr (Librarian, Stephen W. Kearney JuniorSenior High School) that although his supply was exhausted, “we were able to obtain a copy for you from a member of the staff.”
