Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, copies of the “List of Publications Available for Distribution by Members of Congress” and office notes. These are filed in chronological order. Selected examples from 1959: a 1 page letter (1/7) from R. A. Hollis (Dept. of Agriculture) to Wilson re/ the Hon. Charles A. Wolveton directed that 5,000 Farmers’ Bulletins be transferred from his allotment to your credit; letters (Apr.) re/ Wilson sends 2 booklets on plant propagation and grafting to El Cajon constituent Linda E. Roach; letters (May) re/ Wilson sends bulletins on Strawberry & Raspberry Culture & Potato Diseases to constituent Guy C. Hickey; letters (Aug.-Oct.) re/ response to Chula Vista constituent William H. Hicks for pamphlets from Dept. of Agriculture; letters & listing of numbered pamphlets ((Oct.-Nov.) re/ Leon W. Parma (Admin. Asst. to Wilson responds to the requests of constituent Mrs. L. Seiler. Selected examples from 1960: letters (Feb.-Mar.) re/ responses to constituent Mrs. Carl E. Kennedy for Agricultural pamphlets; letters (Mar.) re/ Ramona constituent Maurice R. Clark is sent a number of pamphlets in connection with his study committee on the needs of the Ramona Unified School District; letters (June-July) re/ pamphlets sent to Miss Alice M. Barsamian on home freezing of foods; a letter (7/1) from J. K. McClarren (Acting Dir., Office of Information, Dept. of Agriculture) to Wilson re/ new allotment of Bulletins to members of Congress – “The allotment this year of 10,000 per Member . . . plus your carryover from last year brings your total credit to 38,122 bulletins; letters (Aug.-Sept.) re/ constituent Peter L. DeLise, “As a home owner, family man, teacher & voter, I would appreciate the following & of course any other printed material. . . .;” letters (Aug.-Sept.) re/ Mr. S. W. Huston (S.D.) -“Under separate cover, we have forwarded the [3] Agricultural bulletins which you requested;” letters (Sept.) re/ La Jolla constituent Mrs. Frank Donatello requests several bulletins; letters (Oct.) re/ Wilson transferred 8,000 Farmers’ Bulletins from his account to Congressman Charles A. Halleck. Selected items for 1963: 2 copies of the May 1963 “List of Publications Available for Distribution by Members of Congress” & a letter (7/1) from Dept. of Agriculture Director of Information Harold R. Lewis to Wilson re/ 10,000 new Bulletins “plus your carryover from last year brings your total to 46,187 bulletins.” Examples for 1965: 4 copies of the May 1965 “List of Publications . . . .” & a letter (7/1) from Dir. of Information Harold R. Lewis to Wilson informing him that his total credit of Bulletins was now 23,495; a letter (7/22) from Wilson to L. W. Dolan re/ “Enclosed are the pamphlets you recently requested from the Department of Agriculture.”
