Scope and Contents

A large collection of letters, news clippings, pamphlets, memos, office notes, postal cards, a 13 page poetry booklet from Florence Elementary School, a dedication booklet from Lyman Judson Gage Elementary School & items from Francis Parker School. Most of this folder indicates Congressman Wilson’s decision to send flags flown over the capitol to various groups and organizations. There are only 2 items from 1955 & 1 from 1958: a letter (3/1/55) from Wilson to Office of the Architect, Capitol, Washington 25, D.C. & attached news clipping “Sharp Hospital Dedication Set for March 27,” Evening Tribune, March 17, 1955 re/ “This is an American Flag we would like flown over the United States Capitol on Sunday . . . the ‘Opening Day’ of the Donald N. Sharp Memorial Community Hospital, San Diego, California. The flag will be presented to the Hospital by the Congressman and 3 letters (1/16/55) from Wilson & copies of “Procedures for having Flags Flown over the Capitol” (7/25/55); letters from June & July 1958 are “we are forwarding you a flag which has been flown over the Capitol for presentation to the Alvin M.
