She’s a bay with white spots on her back in case you do not remember. She belongs to me now” – Flicka was a favorite of Wilson’s daughter; Wilson letter (5/1/56) to Chula Vistan J. M. McDonald re/ McDonald’s commencement address 24 years ago and current retirement; Wilson letter (1/30/57) & address card for Richard Matson re/ welcome to Wilson’s district & potential political assistance; Wilson letter (2/27/57) to Miss Mary Jane McCaffree (Secretary to Mrs. Eisenhower) re/ “Enclosed is a beautiful cameo of the President, which I am delivering to you for presentation to Mrs. Eisenhower. The cameo was made by Mr. Harold W. Wolff of La Jolla;” letters (1/26 & 2/4/57) re/ Captain & Mrs. C. A. Karaberis (Bureau of Aeronautics, U.S.N.) thank Wilson for the tickets to attend the Inauguration of President Eisenhower; letters (3/18 & 3/31/57) re/ political commentary as to problems with the economy from dissatisfied Republicans; a Wilson letter (4/30/57) to Vice President Nixon re/ information on books on military history by Commander Manson (CNO office); letters (5/8 & 5/14/57) re/ Charles W. Cullen (Plant Manager, Crown Photo, Washington, D.C.) as to “loss of your pictures as a result of our recent accident . . . .” and their decision to continue to employ handicapped people in their plant; a thank you card from Mrs. Carolyn Hume (June 7, ?) to “Dear Congressman and Mrs. Wilson” re/ “the beautiful flowers you sent after the accident.”
