Scope and Contents

A small collection of letters, memorandum, office notes, news clippings &n post cards. These are filed from October to January. Examples are: a letter (10/15) from Samuel Freedman (President & General Mgr. of Chemalloy Electronics Corp., Santee, CA), an attached news clipping & Wilson’s reply (10/20) re/ a request for a copy of a map of the U.S. “which was made available to members of Congress last year;” memorandum (5/3) , notes & news clipping re/ similar request to the above from constituents Louise Lynch & Ruth Holcomb plus Maggie’s comment that “we will appreciate your not telling anyone that you got it free of charge because we are getting so many requests that we are having to tell them our supply is depleted;” letters & postal card (Apr.-May) re/ El Cajon constituent Carey W. Brock sends $2.00 and receives the U.S. map from Wilson, he also praised the Congressman – “keep up the good work;” a similar request (post card & letters – Apr.-May) from La Mesa constituent Donald N. Riber;” letters (March) from constituents Frank R. Hyatt & W. H. Woods (Chief Deputy, San Diego County Sheriff’s Dept.) & news clipping – Gaylord P. Godwin, “For The U.S., A New 12-Color Picture of Itself,” The San Diego Union (2/7) re/ request for maps, especially Woods for his twin daughters at Grossmont High School; 10 more stapled copies of letters, post cards & news clippings (Feb.- Mar.) from a number of El Cajon, Lakeside and San Diego constituents for the U.S. map. Wilson’s office qualified some of these requests because of their limited supply – “it has been necessary to limit our distribution to schools so that a large number of people may benefit from them;” letters (2/8 & 3/2) from Professor James S. Kinder (Coordinator, Audio-Visual Services, San Diego State College) & Wilson’s reply (2/10) re/ SDSC received 3 copies of the new map “prepared and published by the Geological Survey in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Department of Interior;” two letters (10/29/64 & 1/5/65) from President Robert F. Heilbron (San Diego Mesa College) & replies from Wilson’s secretary Catherine Parham ( 11/3 & 12/17/64) re/ Dr. Heilbron’s request for The World - a map - “Series 1101, Edition 6-AMS, published by the Army Map Service – Corps of Engineers.” Heilbron also congratulated Wilson his re-election.
