Scope and Contents

This is a large collection of letters, business, holiday and greeting cards, an Annual Report, a brochure, game tickets and club memberships. These are filed from December back to January. They follow previous patterns in this series of thank you letters. Examples are: Dec. - letters (21 & 30) re/ “non partisan” Messers. Smyth and Trolese (Research Associates) appreciate Wilson’s assistance and grade him with an A and Lionel Van Deerlin with an F; letters (21 & 27) re/ Wilson and his staff appreciated the Veterans Administration’s “exceptionally fine assistance in handling numerous Veterans’ cases and inquiries regarding Veterans’ legislation;” letter (14) from Wilson to Congressman Gerald Ford re/ “Thank you for sending me the beautiful inscribed copy of your book on Oswald” and comment on the assassination of Kennedy and “rebuilding our Party;” letters (12 & 13) re/ thanking constituent and friend Stephen M. Ryan for sending a copy of San Diego ’66 and Wilson and Ed “recall the wonderful sail off San Diego abroad your yacht;” letter, greeting & business cards (10) re/ receiving a “beautiful banner on behalf of the Pueblo [Mexico] Junior Chamber International;” Nov. – letters (4 & 15) re/ receiving a copy of “Public Library Service Equal to the Challenge of California” & State Librarian Carma R. Leigh’s praise of the federal Library Service Act of 1956 & the Library Service and Construction Act of 1964; letter (2) from Wilson to Thomas Barrow (Barrow Alaska) re/ receiving a “copy of your father’s book, Fifty Years Below Zero” – Wilson and his wife had taken a trip to Alaska in October; letters (10/29 & 11/2) re/ thanking Dr. Clark Kerr (President, University of California, Berkeley) for sending a copy of Charles Hitch’s Decision-Making for Defense; Oct. – letter & business card (10/19 & 26) re/ VFW Post 7420 thanks Wilson for all his efforts for veterans; letters (10/5, 11, 12 & 22 re/ Wilson receiving copies of Richard Cornuelle’s Reclaiming the American Dream from the National Association of Manufactures; letter (10/20) from Wilson to Edward J. LeFevre (General Dynamics Corp.) thanking him for making “it possible for one of my secretaries to attend the Ike Birthday Dinner on October 14;” letters & business card (9/29 & 10/6) re/ receiving a copy of Henry Grady Weaver’s The Mainspring of Human Progress from John T. Phillips, Jr. (President, Lilliston Implement Co., Georgia); Sept. – letters (9/14 & 21) re/ “a belated letters of appreciation for your material contribution in successfully obtaining a meaning full pay raise for members of the armed services;” letters (9/1 & 17) re/ Paul Fisher (President Fisher Pen Co.) is thanked for sending Wilson “the AG-7, the world’s first anti-gravity pen;” letters (/8 &13) re/ thanking E.
