Scope and Contents

There are three groups of letters in this folder. Examples are: letters (June) from California Governor Edmund G. Brown to Congressman Wilson and an enclosed copy of his letter to Congressman Aspinall and Senator Anderson “urging hearings during this session of Congress on legislation to authorize construction of the Auburn Dam and Folsom South Canal units of the Central Valley Project; letters (5/11 & 5/17) re/ North Dakota Congressmen Nygaard & Short were pushing the use of local lignite coal for power generation and sent Wilson a booklet entitled Unlimited Power. Wilson supported this in his reply with the comment about ”being done under free enterprise rather than complete dependence on the Federal Government for development of power;” Press Release from Senator Thomas H. Kuchel (1/10/61) re/ support for a bill to authorize the expenditure of $1,498,000 to contain beach erosion in the Oceanside area.
