Scope and Contents
A collection of letters, news clipping, notes, government reports & a resolution: these are filed from 1963 back to 1959. Examples are: stapled copies of letters (Nov.-June 1963) re/ the Rose Canyon Creek study, the Corps of Engineers, the City of San Diego, Wilson and his constituent Robert Shrum’s request for funds under the Flood Control Act of 1960 “where the creek passes through my property and along the Capehart Housing Project;” a letter (11/26)63) from a Wilson staffer (?) to Richard Capen, Jr. (Dir. of Public Affairs, Copley Newspapers) and attached news clipping “Engineer Outlines Cliff Saving Plan Bird Rock, Sunset Cliffs Projects,” S.D. Union (11-19-63) re/ personal commentary about lack of mention of “the Boss” in the news article and also commentary about “Van Deerlin efforts to bring the multi-million dollar NASA Electronics Research Center to San Diego” and other partisan commentary; letters, memo and note (Sept.-Aug. 1960) re/ groin construction for Imperial Beach; office note (5/24/60) and news clippings from the Union and Tribune (Mar.-Sept. ’60) re/ “Second Groin Work Awaits Sand Build Up,” “Beach Erosion Report Due,” “Imperial Beach Pact Signed On Small Harbor,” and “U.S. Aid Sought In Harbor Project;” letters (Aug.-July 1960) re/ information on the survey report of the Tijuana River Basin, a navigation study of a small boat harbor in the vicinity of Oneonta Lagoon and beach erosion in the vicinity of Imperial Beach; stapled packet of letters and a copy of Imperial Beach City Council Resolution #442 (Aug.-June 1960) re/ discussion of costs and other matters related to this topic; an extra copy of “Resolution 442 A Resolution Requesting The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers To Conduct A Comprehensive Survey” for a small craft boat harbor and beach erosion – City Council of Imperial Beach – 6/21/60;
