Scope and Contents

A small collection of letters, a statement and two government publications: these are filed from 1958 to 1955. Examples are: letters (Jan.-Feb. 1958) from Wilson, Sec. of Interior Fred G. Aandahl and Leon W. Parma (Wilson’s Admin. Asst.) re/ “Several constituents from my district have contacted me regarding the release of water at Hoover Dam in Nevada.” Sec. Aandahl sent information to Wilson to send to them and Wilson responded, especially to Roscoe Hazard of the R.E. Hazard Contracting Co. – Cabrillo Freeway at Friars Road; a copy of “Statement concerning S. 1887 by Warren W. Butler, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, March 17, 1958” - this was testimony to the Subcommittee on Irrigation and Reclamation of the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs of the United States Senate strongly opposing the language and terms as currently written in the bill as it pertained to the San Luis service area; a letter(8/1/57) from Brig. Gen. William F. Cassidy (Div. Engineer, Corps. of Engineers, San Francisco) to Wilson re/ his sending Wilson “Five copies of an information pamphlet entitled ‘Water Resources Development by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in California’ dated 1 January 1957” – there is a 129 page copy in this folder and it contains photos and a fold out map; letter (9/23/55) from Colonel William F. Cassidy (Div. Engineer, Corps of Engineers, San Francisco) to Wilson and an attached copy of “Water Resources Development by the Corps of Engineers in California,” dated 1/1/55. This copy contains 108 pages, photos and a fold out map.
