Scope and Contents

A collection of reports, letters & a news clipping as follows: a letter (1/16) from constituent Joseph F. Allen & Wilson’s reply (1/23) re/ Allen’s concerns about the 1964 Olympics and how Russians subsidize their athletes; a letter (2/1) from Wilson to V. Earl Roberts and a copy of the 119 page “ORRRC Study Report on the Future of Outdoor Recreation” that was sent to Roberts. Within this report are notes and letters from Wilson’s staff as to the contents of the report; letters (Feb.-April) from Willis H. Fletcher & Wilson re/ the complimentary copy of “The Future of Outdoor Recreation” sent to Fletcher by Wilson. Fletcher was very interested in having San Diego County establish a permanent lake at Cuyamaca; letters (Feb.-April) from S.D. County Supervisor Frank A. Gibson & Wilson & attached news clipping entitled “Report Cites Need of Recreation Land” (San Diego Union’s Washington Bureau, Brian Duff) re/ “Thank you for the Outdoor Recreation Resources Review Commission Study Report 21;” a letter (1 May 1963) from Admiral E. J. Roland (U.S. Coast Guard Commandant) to Wilson and attached copy of the 37 page “Recreational Boating in the United States – 1962.” It “is the annual statistical report compiled in accordance with the Federal Boating Act of 1958 (PL 85-911);” a letter (5/17) from Samuel Wood Hamill (Supervising Architect for San Diego Centre City) & Wilson reply (5/29) re/ Hamill’s request for a copy of the Report to the Outdoor Recreation Resource Review Commission and Wilson indicated he had given away his complementary copies so sent Hamill a GPO listing for price and order.
