Scope and Contents

A small collection of letters, telegrams & other items as follows: a letter (rec’d 3/30) from constituent Robert R. Carson & Wilson’s reply (4/1) re/ “It is a pleasure to enclose a copy of “Federal Assistance in Outdoor Recreation” – a copy of this 41 page government booklet is attached; a 1 page letter (3/10) from Ray King (Executive Secretary, Californians for Beaches and Parks) to Wilson re/ King (along with CA Governor Edmund G. Brown) was supporting Proposition One – a Recreation Bond, recently met Wilson in Washington and appreciated discussing the bond issue with Wilson; a letter (2/25) from constituent John P. Keating, attached thermofax copy of a notice & Wilson’s reply (3/4) re/ Keating’s request for a copy of the “Federal Assistance in Outdoor Recreation” which Wilson sent to him; 2 telegrams to Wilson (1/27 & 2/7) from L. H. McVicar (President, CA Association of Park and Recreation Administrators) re/ support needed for the Land and Water Conservation Fund Bill HR 38-46; a letter (3/6) from constituent Harvey Furgatch & Wilson’s reply (3/10) re/ request for the “Federal Assistance Outdoor Recreation” booklet, which was sent by Wilson; letters (Feb. & Mar.) from Phillip C. Morell (Principal, Granite Hills High School, El Cajon), Pete Rozelle (Commissioner, National Football League) & Wilson re/ Morell’s concern that televising National Football League games on Friday night would seriously hurt Granite High’s Friday night games, a principal source of revenue for their athletic department. Wilson wrote Mr. Rozelle who indicated that “The NFL entered into no agreements for such telecasts;” letters (2/10 & 3/3) from Wallace R. Lynn (Laynn and Brooks, Manufactures Representatives, San Francisco) & attached copies of “Wildlife Refuge Again Menaced,” San Francisco Chronicle, Jan. 21, 1964 & Ed Neal, “Cal Legislators Take Duck non Flyway,” S.F. News Call Bulletin, Feb. 18, 1964 re/ Tule Lake Bill – this was Senator Kuchel’s S.793 and the House was delaying action, Wilson supported this bill.
