A collection of letters, notes, memorandum and a list from the Naval Bureau of Personnel: examples are: letters (Jan.-May, 1957) re/ Richard Arnold was unsuccessful in his application to be accepted in the N.R.O.T.C. program. His father Thomas appreciated Wilson’s efforts and “we at least have had the pleasure of seeing our Congressman in action;” a stapled packet containing a “Memorandum To Members of Congress (4/8/59) from Vice Admiral H.P. Smith (Chief of Naval Personnel) and attached copies of “the list of principle and alternate candidates selected from your state for the 1959 Regular Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Program;” copies of letters (4/13/59) from Wilson to Coronado residents David Charles Anderson and Dwight L. Johnson, Jr. re/ “Congratulations! . . . you have been given a principle appointment in the 1959 Regular” N.R.O.T.C. program; additional congratulatory letters (4/11-13/59) from Wilson were sent to Roger Burton Glass (Coronado) and San Diegans James S. Bone, Fred Joe Hunemuller and Richard Alan Rash for receiving “a principle appointment.” Those receiving “an alternate appointment” were San Diegans Michael Hall, Donald Ingalls, Ronald Norton, John Parks and James Riley; a packet of letters (Apr. –June ’59) re/ correspondence between several parties as to the acceptance of El Cajon resident Charles B. Kitchell as an alternate in the N.R.O.T. C program as well as the University of Southern California and the University of New Mexico.
