Scope and Contents
A booklet published by the National Security Training Commission entitled Final Report to the Congress (Govt. Printing Office, 1957 and 22 pages); a copy of a letter (1/16/59 from William L. Denton (Evanston, Illinois) & Wilson reply (1/26/5) re/ “Thank you for forwarding a copy of your letter to Colonel Carlton on the subject of military identification cards for Reserve Officers.” As a Marine reserve officer, Wilson was interested; a letter (3/10/59) from San Diego constituent M/Sergeant Richard Saunders and Wilson’s reply (3/26/59) re/ “the proposed cutbacks in the National Guard” and coverage by Sergeant Saunders about the lack of general prosperity of the country under the Republican Party and Wilson’s rejoinder; an office memo to Bob from Ed (6/7/57) re/ “Subject: 2nd Paragraph, attached letter” (?) re/ “The Office of the Secretary of the Army reports that there is no contemplated reduction of the obligated service of draftees.” An attached note (n.d.) said “Nothing pending” and mentioned the 6 months [active reserve] program failed to be successful, etc.
