Scope and Contents
A collection of letters, telegrams, maps, government document and a news statement: these are filed from July back to January. Examples are: letters (July-Aug.) re/ constituent Mrs. Mary E. McMullen (Nile St. S.D.) was concerned about her property and the new 805 freeway; letter, telegram & map (July) re/ the opening of the ramps linking the new Interstate 5 Crosstown Freeway with U.S. 101; letter, telegram (6/28 & 6/30) & attached copy of H.R. 8487 “A Bill To broaden the purposes for which Federal-aid secondary highway funds may be used” re/ the S.D. County Board of Supervisors vigorously opposed this bill; letters (May-June) re/ constituent N. R. Keough’s long letter to the S.D. Union in opposition to the widening of Highway 395 through Balboa Park; letters (2/4 & 2/15) & attached 4 page copy of Assoc. of American Railroads, “Background On Transportation” re/ a discussion of financing, maximum size and weight of motor vehicles that will be permitted by the Federal-Aid Highway Program; letters and office notes (12/4/64 & 1/19/65) re/ Wilson replying to constituent John T. West as to “the extension of the Interstate Highway Program and their funding;” letters (1/7 & 1/14/65), news item and map re/ “Broadway Widening Hearing Slated Jan. 22 - $1.2 Million Job Would Be Biggest In City’s History” from Magnolia Avenue east to Main Street.
